LINCOLN, NEBRASKA -- A spark was fired under the bottoms of several hundred of the top inline short-track skaters vying for national gold at the 2004 USARS Indoor National Inline Speedskating Championships held at the perrenial Pershing Auditorium in downtown Lincoln. Speedskaters from the Great Lakes region as well as the Ohio Speedskating Tour fared relatively well relative to other historically stronger regions in the south.

Individual national championships race results from the distances covered are available below including the Pro/Elite men and ladies representing the United States. Ohio's Lamar Melton, a perrenial competitor for the great buckeye state of Ohio competed in the Pro classification against dozens of other young gun seniors. Rob Campbell (Pittsburgh, PA) also off a recent hiedis from speedskating reclaimed another respectable finish in the 100 meter time trial.

Buddy Gurr (Columbus, Ohio) at the end of the day made the final event and finished a respectable 4th place. The famous Julie Brandt-Glass (Seattle, Washington) made an appearence at the arena signing autographs with legendary Olympic ice speedskater and former inline speedskater Derek Parra from the Inland Empire of Southern California. Additionally, some major leaders in the industry met for a summit of national proportions to brainstorm ways to reposition inline speedskating as a sport for the coming century. Experts said that speedskating track was a typical blazing fast with speeds reaching 30mph.
