Hyper Wheels Continue to Dominate at the Basel World Cup!
Race Report By: Ippolito Sanfratello, Fila Team Manager
The second stage of the World Cup was held in Basel (Switzerland) on May 1st. Once again Fila team dominated the event with three athletes in the top 4 positions.
The 5 KM lap in Basel is considered as one of the hardest course in the circuit but Max Presti and teammates Saggiorato, Zangarini, Grandgirard and Bontempo did an impressive job and controlling very well the pack immediately after the start. All the teams tried to force the speed during the 31Km race but after several attacks Fila chased all the breakaways keeping the pack together.
In the last kilometers the Hyper Race team tried to make some gap from the main pack with a long sprint but at 1 KM to go Luca Saggiorato, on 100mm Hyper Race wheels, started to lead his captain to the front and at 300meters to go. Presti took the lead passing Hyper's Diego Rosero and winning his first marathon of the season. Luca Saggiorato did an impressive come back on Rosero passing him 20 meters before the line and finishing in second place. Francesco Zangarini completed the Fila day finishing 4th.
Thanks to this result Max Presti consolidate his first position in the World Cup ranking followed by his teammate Francesco Zangarini and Pascal Briand (Salomon).
