4 Different tracks for 5 events— Ontario, ON
Saturday, August 30, 2003
The 2003 Roller Sports Ontario Track Race Series proved to be a very successful first year series. The series took place over 5 weekends and saw skaters compete on 4 different tracks in Hamilton, Mississauga, Toronto, and Ottawa. Even though the series did not boast support from many skaters, it is clear that the seeding by time trial has been a good method at forming abiltiy groups where skaters are divided by ability rather than age and gender. This proved to be very important because the racing scene in Ontario and Canada is still in its infancy with relatively few skaters and little if any funding for the sport at all levels.
Most of the support for the events came from local skaters, but some skaters from the USA did come up to challenge the Ontario skaters. The Roller Sports Ontario Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday September 3rd to begin the planning of the 2004 RSO Track Race Series as well as the indoor racing series which will follow a similar format.
