The final Roller Sports Ontario Interclub Meet of the 2002/ 2003 season took place on March 23rd, 2003 at Scooter's Roller Palace in Mississauga. The floor conditions are usually quite slick at the Scooter's Roller Palace, but coaches Aaron Ardnt and Peter Doucet took care of business by cleaning the floor with vinegar. The skaters from the Tri Cities Indoor Speed Club, the Scooter's Indoor Speed Club, Buffalo, and Markham enjoyed a grippy floor. Apart from a few isolated infractions, the skating was very clean and skaters were competing in a friendly manner. The race series served as a learning group for skaters, officials, and coaches to tune-up the racing in Ontario so that skating could be brought to higher levels. The 2002/ 2003 Roller Sports Ontario Interclub meets were well attended and people can only expect positive growth for the next series of races organized and supported by Roller Sports Ontario. A special thanks should go to all officials, volunteers, board members, and coaches who dedicated their time so that the athletes can dedicate themselves to the racing!

NB: Full official results with times will be posted after the Disney Marathon

CLASSIC MASTER LADIES
In the 700 meter race, it was Carolyn Gullo who had a strong start to take the lead, but she was passed by eventual race winner Sigrid Ziegler, who passed for 1st place on lap #3. The 1000 meter race featured the same strategies from Carolyn Gullo, who took the lead and broke away from Gillian Clarke. Sigrid Ziegler managed to set up a nice pass and managed to take 2nd place.

Classic/ Master Men
With a stacked division, all 6 skaters provided excellent racing for the onlookers. In the 700 meter race, Ed Duncan took the lead with a fast start. Paul Robbins and Herb Gayle battled for 2nd, and with 1 lap to go, Herb Gayle threw a tight pass to take the lead and cross the line in first. Unfortunately, Gayle was declassified due to the infraction on the pass and an infraction with a cone. The 1000 meter race was Herb Gayle's chance at redemption. Ed Duncan took and exciting lead as Paul Robbins fell at the start. Herb Gayle then took matters into his own hands and ran away from the field, with only Lenny Porter able to stay about 1/4 lap behind Gayle.

Senior Ladies
The 700 meter race featured Jacquie Raetsen set the pace for the start, followed by Tasha Burnside. Burnside was soon passed by Tatia Wallace, who maintained 2nd place. The order remained as such for the entire race, with Jacquie Raetsen taking the win. The 1000 meter race was also quite tight. Tasha Burnside took the lead and looked poised to fight for the win, but with passes being thrown by Tatia Wallace and Jacquie Raetsen, the lead turned into a gap. Raetsen took the lead with Wallace in tow. Jacquie Raetsen ended up crossing the line first for her 2nd win, while Carla Raetsen moved up quickly on Tatia Wallace, and the two finished within a few wheels, with Wallace taking the better spot.

Senior Men
In the 700 meter race, Peter Doucet took the lead and never looked back, taking his first victory of the morning. Sina Suadatmelli, a skater from Iran and new to the Toronto Area, skated quite well, but not nearly enough to challenge Benoit Joubert for 2nd. In the 1000 meter race, Morgan Williams and Peter Doucet battled to the end, finishing within a few feet of each other, with Doucet coming out victorious. Unfortunately, Suadatmelli did not take part in the 1000 meter race as he was having equipment problems.

Elementary

Jeff Burnside skated very strong to defeat his opponents, brothers Raleigh Desmond and Jordie Desmond in the 700 meter and 1000 meter races. Burnside improved his stability by using a 4 wheel race frame, and the difference between his performance at this interclub meet and the previous interclub meets was quite noticeable in that he improved a great deal!

Open Races
Peter Doucet showed what he can do in both races. In the 1000 meter race, Doucet ran away from the competition, including Morgan Williams, who took 2nd. With about 3 laps to go, Peter Doucet made a nice power pass when Lenny Porter was passing Tatia Wallace and other skaters. Doucet ended up taking the win. Skaters had handicap starts based on ability. The handicap starting had an impact on the 1500 meter race, as Herb Gayle took off from Doucet at the start, but Doucet managed to catch up to Gayle once skater traffic was encountered. Doucet pounced on the passes when Herb Gayle got caught up with a couple of skaters, and juked the skaters to emerge into 4th. At that point, Tatia Wallace had amassed a 1/5 lap lead, but the lead was closed by Jacquie Raetsen, and Peter Doucet passed the rest of the traffic and took an uncontested win.
