CATEGORIES:

Advanced (category 2) Skaters with racing experience and capable of completing the race in a time under 20 minutes

Fitness (category 3) Skaters who train regularly and expect to skate with a time over 20 minutes

Recreational (category 4) Skaters who skate for their personal best, (no five wheel skates allowed).

SENIOR (60+)

All Entrants must be 13 years or older on day of race.


RACE COURSE:

Flat 10K road course at South Beach in Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard. The race starts and ends at Mel's Diner on the Katama Airfield, Herring Creek Dr. The loop begins by crossing over Crocker Dr to Katama Rd. before winding along scenic Edgartown Bay Rd onto Atlantic Dr. After leaving South Beach the course turns up Herring Creek Dr. to Slough Cove Rd onto Meeting House Way. The race ends with a straightaway to the finish line on Herring Creek

RACE SAFETY:

Helmets and wrist guards are mandatory to participate in all Skate MV events. Knee and elbow pads are recommended. Inline skates only. NO roller skates, roller skis, ski poles, baby strollers, baby joggers, automobiles, skateboards, bikes, bandits, pets, or little red wagons. Headphone use is prohibited.


AWARDS

Medals to top overall male and female finishers in each age category. Prizes raffled among all participants. Merchandise prizes will be raffled among all participants. The award ceremony will take place immediately following completion of race. Prizes and medals must be picked up at the award ceremony. Prizes will not be mailed.


PARKING & BUSSES

The Steam Ship Authority (SSA) ferries leave from Woods Hole in Falmouth Mass to the Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven terminals. All participants are strongly urged to use public transportation to the Race Start and Finish area.

The Vineyard Transit Authority shuttle busses run daily from both SSA terminals to Church St. in Edgartown. From Church St. the South Beach shuttle runs begin at 8:45 with additional departures at 40-minute intervals. Disembark at the Katama Airfield stop. One day pass on the shuttle busses available for $5.

Taxi's also available. No parking will be available at the starting line. There is limited parking along Atlantic Dr at South Beach. The racecourse will be closed to traffic between 11AM and 2PM.

VOLUNTEERS
