Super Skate Weekend #2 (AKA Asphalt Animals Skate Tour)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OVERVIEW
The Asphalt Animal Skate Tour is a chance for some fun skating and UNOFFICIAL competition. We have no prizes, entry fees, or judges. The event is for skaters who want to have some fun competition in a stage race type format. The event does not have insurance, tee shirts, event numbers, timing, promotions, road closings, venue usage permits, police escorts, music, or any other trappings of an official event. This is just a free chance for friends to get together and skate.

The weekend is inspired by the Tour de France. Each part of the tour is part of a points competition.

FRIDAY EVENING (June 11th)
On Friday at 6:30pm, we will all meet in Cary at a 400m asphalt running track for the start of the weekend fun. In addition to skating socially, everyone will have a chance to record a one mile time trial time. This one mile (1600m) time trial will be part of the overall race series. On the track, one mile is four laps and must be run indivdually. We will record people's times on the official event clipboard for overall race tabulation at the end of the weekend. People who have travel conflicts and can't make the Friday event can do makeup one mile time trials on Saturday.

The track record for one mile is 2:44 set by Mark Farnsworth.

Friday @ 6:30pm -- 1600m time trial and social skating
The track is located at the Reedy Creek School complex in Cary. To get to the school, take I-40 to Harrison Ave (exit 287). Go south on Harrison for 1.2 miles and turn left on Reedy Creek Rd. Go about half a mile and then turn left into the school parking lot.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SATURDAY MORNING (June 12th)
On Saturday morning at 9:30am competitors will complete a 10K time trial on a road course in Apex. All skaters will start with 30 second time gaps on a course with a good number of hills. The TT course is on very lightly traveled roads that have no stop signs or cross streets. Each skater's time will be recorded on the official event clipboard.

Saturday @ 9:30am -- 10K Time Trial
The time trial meeting location is at Apex Elementary School. Take NC-55 to S. Salem street near downtown Apex. Go southwest on S. Salem for about a quarter of a mile and then turn left on Tingen Rd. The school is on the left near a water tower.

We can all decide what time to do the skate based on the weather and people's schedules. The epic skate will not count towards the points competition.

POINTS
All participants earn points for each event. The points are awarded based on finishing position. First place gets one point and fifteenth place gets fifteen points. At the end of the competition the skater with the lowest number of points wins. If you don't start or finish an event your score is the same as if you got last place in that event.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
